Who we are
Lock Miles is an app for planning narrowboat cruises on Britain's canals. This policy explains what happens to information inside the app. It applies to the iPhone and iPad app and its Home Screen widget.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, sell or share personal data. The app has no sign-in and no server, contains no third-party SDKs, and makes no network requests for its features. We cannot see your plans, logbook, photos or papers.
What stays on your device

This information is kept in the app's private storage on your device. A short summary of today's cruise (route, next stop, arrival time, nearest services) is written to a storage area shared only with the Lock Miles widget, so the widget can display it. Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also clear it at any time in Settings → Reset all progress.
Camera and photos
The camera is used only when you choose to photograph a document or a moment for your logbook. The photo library is used only when you pick a picture in the system photo picker. Chosen images are resized and saved inside the app on your device. They are never uploaded.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Lock Miles schedules local notifications on your device: reminders 30 and 7 days before a boat paper expires, and a nudge 45 minutes before you reach tonight's mooring. No push service is used and no notification data leaves your device.
Sharing
When you share a log card or export your logbook as CSV, the iOS share sheet sends it only to the destination you choose. Lock Miles does not receive a copy.
Backups
If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, Apple may include the app's data in that backup under Apple's own privacy terms. We have no access to it.
Children
Lock Miles is a general audience planning tool. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on a server. All of your data is under your control on your device. Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you may still contact us with any question about this policy through the form on our support page.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date before the change takes effect in the app.
